Plastiques Wôlinak Inc. specializes in plastic injection molding.

Managed by the Abenaki Band Council of Wôlinak and in partnership with private contractors with over 20 years’ experience in the plastics industry in Drummondville, the plant began production in April 2004.

Plastiques Wôlinak hires only Aboriginal workers. By developing a manufacturing plant in this small community, the company has generated benefits for the entire region.

WÔLINAK: CLOSE TO NATURE

The Wôlinak community is located in Centre-du-Québec, along the Bécancour River.

Around 1700, Abenaki and Sokoki families from Namesokântsik (now known as Mégantic) settled near the river not far from Bécancour and Trois-Rivières.

Today, the Wôlinak community boasts some 500 people.

In the Abenaki language, “Wôlinak” means “river of long bends.”
